Foreign Prisoners

There are over 100 foreign prisoners across Cambodia, mostly in prisons close to Phnom Penh. Prison Fellowship Cambodia provides expatriate prisoners with a visit from someone who speaks their native language. The volunteer visitor is someone who can act as family by visiting at least once a month, delivering a monthly care package and helping to maintain contact with family overseas.

PFC arranges for volunteer visitors from the expatriate community to visit as many foreign prisoners as possible and to spend time with them. We aim to simply ease the passing of their sentence through friendship, food gifts, medical care where we can and moral and spiritual support.

In certain life threatening medical emergencies PFC can provide some support, usually with the help of the prisoner’s own embassy.

PFC provides support upon release in the form of emergency accommodation and help to access essential documents from their embassy. In 2013, 22 volunteer expatriates visited 41 expatriate prisoners on a monthly or fortnightly basis.
